Purpose:
This policy defines the qualifications, responsibilities and reporting relationships of this position.

Authority and Responsibilities:
This position is selected by the Elders and is responsible to the Elders.

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for planning and guiding a gospel centered Christian Education for Children and Youth which equips Children and Youth to know Christ and make Him known under the supervision of the Elders and has the following responsibilities:

1. Sunday School – Children and Youth
a. Teacher scheduling and planning of Sunday School programs.
b. Train Sunday School teachers.
c. Oversee Sunday School.
d. Research, plan and recommend curriculum materials to the Elders.
2. Children’s Church
a. Oversee Children’s Church
b. Teacher recruitment, training and scheduling.
c. Research, plan and recommend curriculum materials to the Elders.
3. Vacation Bible School
a. Attain annually a volunteer, approved by the Session, to direct VBS, who will be responsible for teacher scheduling and planning of VBS.
b. Research, plan and recommend curriculum materials to the Elders.

4. Teach youth Sunday School
5. Develop and lead regular discipleship meetings for youth.
6. Plan and lead periodic events for children.
7. Plan and lead outreach events for children and youth.
8. Annually prepare a report for the Session and Finance Committee concerning ministry budget needs for Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
9. Regularly meet with the Elders.

Reporting Relationship:

Senior Pastor Job Description – Adams Farm Community Church

POSITION SUMMARY
 The Senior Pastor has the primary preaching responsibility and is expected to uphold the Adams Farm Community Church tradition of excellence in preaching. In addition, the Senior Pastor should conscientiously engage in the oversight of teaching, evangelism and prayer ministry in the church. He also needs to be an ambassador to the local community on behalf of the church.
THEOLOGICAL EXPECTATIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
 The Senior Pastor should be a passionately Christ-centered leader who is a good communicator, motivator, team builder, and mentor with a genuine pastoral heart. His personal actions and relationships need to reflect what is spoken from the pulpit, including being trustworthy and compassionate. The Senior Pastor should also endeavor to be approachable and personable. The principal task of the senior pastor is to help our congregation understand, internalize and actualize the central purpose of our church as stated in our Motto. Everything we do as a church – all our programs, monies, time and effort should tie into this overarching goal.
 The senior pastor needs to prepare and deliver sermons that are relevant and that inspire both members and non- members to become fully devoted followers of Christ.
 Be anchored in Biblical text and teaching from a reformed perspective with an emphasis on expository preaching and teaching.
 Culturally relative and biblically sound preaching and teaching relevant to younger people.
 Will not assume that the congregation is familiar with Christian terms or concepts.
 Always provide a potent take-home message that is applicable to everyday life.
 Sometimes as needed, be topical.
 Regularly provide opportunity for new believers to express their belief during service.
 Elicit a heartfelt, emotional response.
 Compel the listener towards a deeper relationship with Christ.
 The Senior Pastor is to preach and/or teach in the Sunday Morning services. He should also lead the Wednesday Bible Study, though he may delegate the teaching portion of that study.
PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES
 The pastor will provide short-term counseling as needed. He will be available and responsive to crisis situations and will provide pastoral care through the most effective means possible.
 The pastor will be committed to and support Adams Farm Community Church Motto, Mission Statement, Vision Statement and Core values. (See http://www.adamsfarmchurch.com)
 The Senior Pastor is to regularly lead the congregation in Communion. This should be done at least once per month. He should also lead in regard to baptisms.
 The position requires great flexibility in time schedule. The pastor should be available for evening activities as well as work on the weekends. The pastor should take one to two days off each week.

 Adams Farm Community Church acknowledges that the position of Senior Pastor is a demanding job. We support the sanctity of time for one’s family, marriage, health and especially personal spiritual reflection and growth; however the senior pastor understands that the needs of the congregation will be met.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND REVIEW
 The Senior Pastor reports directly to the session as represented by the Session Leadership Team and its chairperson. The Session Leadership Team (serving elders only) will conduct the annual review of the Senior Pastor.

Afton Run Church is an ARP mission church in the Concord/Kannapolis area of North Carolina. Afton Run Church is seeking a person who has experience in playing the piano or playing the guitar in the setting of worship. This person would play each Sunday and come alongside of the pastor to help plan the worship service. We are located approximately 32 miles south of Augusta Georgia, Ebenezer is very rural and Wrens is very small town. We do have a couple of grocery stores, drug stores, Fred’s, Family Dollar, a couple of doctors and dentist and several family restaurants in our small community. However we don’t have Wal Mart, Applebee’s or a Mall. They are located thirty minutes north of our town.

We are just beginning our search for a new pastor after our last pastor Gary Jones accepted a call from Hernando ARP in Mississippi. He had pastored our churches for 19 years and his leaving was a mutual decision. For the most part it was a smooth separation. We are looking for a Pastor who possesses the people skills needed for outreach and evangelism. We will not expect our next pastor to go door to door inviting people to church or stand on the street corner preaching the gospel. However, we will expect our next pastor to schedule a revival (special services), spearhead Vacation Bible School and Homecoming etc. Also the successful candidate will be expected to participate in joint community church activities like the Fall Festival, Relay for Life, 5th Sunday night Services. We need someone who has exceptional people skills and one who can push us to be an active congregations once again.

Wrens APR has a membership of about 27, active about 22. Ebenezer APR has a membership of about 11, active about 9. Both congregations are older. The youngest member of Wrens is 45, Ebenezer probably 65. We seldom have a disagreement.

The facilities of both churches are very old and very quaint-beautiful and in good condition. The manse is located next door to the Wrens ARP Sanctuary and will be undergoing major renovations and repairs in the next few weeks.

Financially both churches are sound and we will be offering a package similar to the one our past pastor had. This will be a full time pastorate with salary, travel allowance, synod insurance, manse, utilities, retirement, vacation etc.
